Giving Back for Thanksgiving

Before High Road School of Wallingford High School left for the Thanksgiving Holiday, the students and the staff got together and did the "Jean for Beans" Holiday food and can drive. Students were allowed to dress down and staff were allowed to wear jeans for every day that they brought two (2) nonperishables and canned food items. All of the donated food was packed up and brought to Master’s Manna. The canned food was then handed out to families in need in Wallingford and the surrounding towns to make their holidays that much brighter. The students enjoyed being able to [...]

Jerome: Growing into Leadership

Jerome Lindsey has done an outstanding job since the beginning of the school year. He is currently applying for the Gold level. Last year, Jerome went for a student who would sleep most of the day; when awake, he would refuse to engage in his academics, achieving only the Yellow level. This year Jerome has made dramatic changes -  now an exemplar student, he has grown into a leader within his classroom. He has set an example for his fellow classmates and has enjoyed the ability to engage more within the school community and even assists staff with various [...]

High Road Hall of Heroes

Students at High Road School of Wallingford High School created a Hall of Heroes as a way to remember the heroism displayed on September 11th. Students wrote about how they can be a hero in their community and designed their own hero emblem. A central hallway in the school was lined with all their heroic words to inspire students to stay positive and remember that even the smallest act can be heroic to anyone. Some students wrote about helping their parents, while others talked about volunteering in community outreach programs such as homeless shelters or soup kitchens. They all did a [...]
