Several students at High Road School of Wallingford are officially published authors after participating in a national literary contest featuring scary stories of 100 words or less. Their hard work paid off and they will soon receive copies of the book showcasing their creative writing.

For Xavier, the achievement is especially meaningful. “I like being an author,” he shared. “The first thing I will do when I get my book is let my mom read it.” Adrian, who cleverly included family members in his story, said he can’t wait to share it with his grandma.

Dashiel reflected on the journey with pride. “When we first started, I heard it was extremely rare to be picked, so I was very excited when I got selected. I worked really hard on it. I would use all my time every day to create it. I poured my heart and soul into it,” he said. Jonathan also enjoyed the experience, noting how fun it was to take part in the project. Each student received a certificate in recognition of their accomplishment.

“This book is something the students will always remember,” said Christine Hartwich, school director. “They are published authors!”

Congratulations to all of the talented writers!
