Marion’s Tremendous Improvement

Marion has improved, tremendously, behaviorally. Marion really struggled when he first enrolled at Capital and buckled down to get off of concern status. Marion is now working towards earning positive behavior awards and his spot on Student Government. Marion has completely done a 180. He is respectful, helpful, willing to take ownership of his behaviors and is doing well academically. He has done a great job turning his behavior around and is really bought into our program. (Mr. Hedash) Marion wrote an amazing essay, as part of his action plan, on ways to be successful and learn from your mistakes. [...]

Helping Brian Be The Best He Can Be

Last year, Brian struggled with following directions and being respectful to staff. He often needed frequent breaks away from class because he failed to participate or stay on task. He instigated arguments with other students and often initiated negative behaviors among peers and staff. It was very hard for him to open up and trust his teachers, but Brian had a goal. Brian wanted to achieve gold level at school and to do so required a complete change to his behaviors and full staff support. From the first day of the 2019-2020 school year, at [...]

Student of the Month

I recall the intake day for Mr. Smith and the growl of a look he gave entering into our building. Mr. Smith appeared not to be paying attention, looking at his phone with no eye contact. Since the very first day of school though, he has done everything that we have asked him to do. Mr. Smith has five Fulton Virtual On Line Classes with an 80% or better score in each class. Mr. Smith comes to PEAK every single day without fail. He is respected by both peers and staff and he has shown a great level of [...]

Students Get Real World On The Job Experience

The Pathway Program currently has four students who have been Volunteering in the Readiness Program located downstairs from the Pathways Program. These students have an opportunity to earn time to spend with three to five-year-old kids. The kids love to see the old kids down to play with them and to read to them. Some of our Pathway students are interested in going into early child-care in the future. This experience allows students real-life exposure to this job setting and expectations. Pathways students can then use this experience when filling out job applications and writing resumes. [...]
