Ms. Lucas has had an extreme impact on not only the school but her students as well. She has three students transitioning back to their home schools and has another two students that are on silver and gold level. Around the building, she is a jack of all trades. Ms. Barnes Is A Delight

Over the past month, Ms. Barnes has a school high of students on Blue Level with one of her students on Gold Level. Along with Mr. Singletary, (Instructional Assistant of the classroom) Ms. Barnes has students reading novels as a classroom as well as putting students through rigorous classwork that challenges their intellect as well as their grade level. Taco Tuesday Fun

Ms. Barnes decided to treat her class to a Taco Tuesday Fiesta due to them increasing their iReady overall scores. Her students were having difficulty staying on task and focusing on their iReady testing and the overall grades and results were starting to drop from the stellar levels they were at the beginning of the year. High Road CPR and First Aid Achievers

The Staff of High Road Of Southern Maryland were tasked with all becoming CPR and First Aid certified. A representative of The American Red Cross came in and provided lessons on CPR as well as Fire and Rescue tactics. The staff were provided with practice dummies and applied what they learned from the course to hands on. Also, the American Red Cross representative brought a simulator to teach the staff how to properly use a fire extinguisher. Middle Schooler’s Go To Work

Souther Maryland's younger students have had a rise in not only iReady results, but in overall grades as well. Students have really brought into the model of the school and are going to their teacher Ms. Smith, but their instructional assistant Mr. Barnes when they have troubles with work or questions with work that was given. Marques’ Success

Marques was enrolled in High Road the week prior to Thanksgiving in 2019. Since his enrollment, Marques has NEVER dropped his level and is regarded by his teacher and Instructional assistant as one of the more mature students in his classroom. Black History Boards

With Black History Month coming in a few days, each classroom took on the task of decorating a board in the school. The students did research on various black history leaders and incorporated it into each board. Along with the help of their teachers, the students were able to display their work samples on the various boards and acknowledge their favorite black history hero. Happy Birthday, Mr. Daniels!

The month of January is filled with special days, however, our director Mr. Daniels celebrated his special day. While out of the office, Ms. Barnes and a handful of selected students decorated Mr. Daniels office with a birthday surprise that he was indeed not expecting. Jacorri’s Leadership

Jacorri recently transitioned from the middle school classroom, into the high school classroom. Staff was a little worried about the transition but he definitely has been successful. Jacorri has been maintaining his level since entering the high school classroom. Jacorri also completes all of his school work which has earned him passing grades for the quarter.
