Life skills olympics help teach real world, practical crafts

Feeding off the positive energy, flashing of cameras and fast-paced competition, Mia Rooks helped her team bring home a trophy in the third annual life skills olympics. At the same time, the competition will help the 17-years-old with her transition plan of attending a four-year university to pursue a degree in social work. “It was an exciting energy, this is my second year going but my first year participating in it last year, I went and I cheered the team on,” Rooks said, “and this year, it was exciting. Jayden’s Story: Back on Track

Jayden walked through the doors of the High Road School of Baltimore County in 2015, in his mother Yolanda’s words, “out of control” with his behavior and nearly non-communicative. Back to School Night – Spaghetti & Bingo

Out of the B11 Back to School Nights I’ve attended, this B1 was by far the best! Our Spaghetti Dinner and BINGO night involved delicious food, teachers announcing BINGO numbers, lots of prizes, and fun for all.  A DORS representative also came out to explain all the pasta-bilities for our students who are getting ready to transition out of school.  I cannelloni imagine all of the success and progress our students will make this year as we set their goals high and watch them soar past them B4 our eyes!
