Student Spotlight – Bob

Bob has been attending Sierra School of Gilbert since August 2021 in the high school Community-Based Instruction classroom. The model for students in this classroom includes academic instruction and vocational training with on-site and off-site job sampling multiple times throughout the week. Through Bob’s participation in this program, he has gained part-time employment at Social Spin outside of school hours. Azael Gets the Spotlight He Deserves

Azael has been part of the Sierra School of Gilbert family for several years. He has made remarkable and sustained progress in his ability to use augmentative communication effectively, and self-regulate. With the diligence of his teachers, support staff, related service providers and behavior analyst, Azael has worked hard and will be returning to a District-level program next semester. Azael frequently initiates social interactions, independently navigates his classroom and is a bright spot in everyone’s day. Honoring Black History Month

Students at Sierra School of Gilbert learned about influential leaders and inventors for Black History Month. Lessons were adapted so students could practice a variety of skills while celebrating the contributions and legacy of African Americans. Students and staff collaborated to create door designs and compete in a school wide contest to determine which room created the most creative and unique door. Learn more about our school today.

Jeremiah’s Excellent Progress

Jeremiah has made wonderful progress over the past year since starting at Sierra School of Gilbert. His school attendance has dramatically improved along with his overall engagement in classroom lessons and activities. Jeremiah has become a natural ambassador for his classroom in the most positive and appropriate ways. The TOWN Travel Agency

Students have been busy with the Travel Agency this month in The TOWN. We've visited Tahiti, Scotland, and will soon be making an appearance in Kenya before our last stop in Transylvania. Golfing, castle design and making a Nessie with dough were big hits last week! Students enjoy this weekly opportunity to socialize with peers, practice topic-related conversational skills and gain exposure to new leisure activities.
