Jeremy Franklin is joining us for his second year here at High Road Lower School as our Transition Coordinator. During the month of October, Jeremy went above and beyond working to help our students and staff. Jeremy dropped everything to step in at the last minute and lead our Fall Flag Football game for students. This October our Elementary student of the month is Gerald Wilson-Branch. Gerald is a very hard-working 4th grade student in Ms. Kavney’s class here at High Road Lower School. This month Gerald has displayed model Blue level behavior. He is always willing to answer questions in class, he finishes his assignments on time and he works diligently to make the best grades possible. What impact has Ms. Jackson had on colleagues and students over the past month? Ms. Jackson has worked as an Assistant Teacher in our 11th-grade classroom since November 2018. Bowling for Blue (and Above)

Recently, students of High Road School of Wright City got to enjoy the afternoon at a bowling alley. Trip to Watkins Nature Center

Ms. Kemp planned an awesome academic field trip for her 6th and 7th grade Science classes! The group visited the Watkins Nature Center of Prince George’s County to become more acquainted with elements of nature. The workshop students attended focused on the three rock groups, how they are created and where they come from. Students conducted experiments to help them identify the rocks by how hard or soft they are- they also worked on identifying rocks based on whether or not they could float! Visiting Anne Arundel Community College

The graduating class of 2019-2020 attended a campus tour of Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) in Arnold, MD on September 25, 2019. Our school serves a number of Anne Arundel County students and this was a great opportunity to know what is available to them. The Disability Support Services (DSS) gave the group a presentation of the academic accommodations they provide to qualified students with disabilities. WOWD-LP Takoma Radio Field Trip

The 6th grade class of Ms. Davis, Ms. Hill, and Mr. Woodward of High Road Academy, Laurel went on a field trip to WOWD-LP 94.3 FM in Takoma Park, MD. WOWD-LP Takoma Radio is an independent community radio serving Takoma Park, College Park, and Hyattsville in Maryland with some parts of Northeast and Northwest DC. The radio station is an LPFM (low power FM) meaning it operates at 100 watts or less reaching a 5-mile radius listening area.
