Graham Academy students honored for Light It Up Blue Day

WILKES-BARRE — In celebration of “Light It Up Blue Day” and World Autism Awareness Month in April, Graham Academy student Billy Norton had the opportunity to serve as the city’s honorary fire chief for the day. Norton, 18, climbed into a fire truck outside Wilkes-Barre fire headquarters and learned how to operate the aerial ladder. He said his favorite part of the experience was honking the horn. Car Wash

High Road School of Cecil County led a car wash to raise donations for the Special Olympics. Students worked together to spray, scrub, rinse, and dry numerous cars while cooking hot dogs and serving them to community members! Sierra Academy 2022 Egg Drop Contest

The annual egg drop took place on Monday, April 18, 2022. The students and staff with great care created a variety of contraptions to assist their egg to float safely to the ground below. A total of 3 eggs were sacrificed during the process; however, the remain 6 eggs made it safely to the ground below. As a reward, for so many creative floating devices, all students and staff earned a pizza party!

QC students make, sell key chains to raise money for Uganda playground

Students make a difference while they help other children far away. And there’s a business lesson in this as well. Students at High Road of the Quad Cities make and sell key chains to raise money for a playground in Uganda. So far, they’ve raised more than $500. According to its website, High Road School of the Quad Cities provides academic and therapeutic services for children, adolescents, and young adults, ages 3 through 21, with extraordinary needs. We held our annual School-Wide Science Fair on Friday, March 18th. Each classroom did a different project; we had volcanos, elephant toothpaste, and even "safe" bottle rockets. Autism Awareness Spirit Week at High Road School of Cecil County!

Students and staff at the High Road School of Cecil County celebrated Autism Awareness by participating in a spirit week! Students and staff participated in spirit days such as tie dye day, light it up blue day, and twin day!
