Home > Celebrating Success: Excel Roseland’s First Semester Awards + Luncheon

Just before winter break, Excel Roseland, part of the Chicago Public Schools’ Options Network, buzzed with excitement as students and staff gathered to celebrate the first semester awards assembly and holiday luncheon. This annual event recognizes the hard work, dedication, and achievements of Excel students in the areas of academics and attendance.

During the awards portion of the celebration, students who made honor roll, high honor roll, and principal honor roll were acknowledged. In a heartfelt moment of the awards ceremony, two students, one male and one female, were recognized as the most improved students of the semester

Attendance, a key to consistent academic performance, was also celebrated. Students with the most improved attendance and those who achieved perfect attendance during the first and second quarters of the school year received well-deserved recognition.

Other accolades handed out included awards for the most dependable student, December student of the month, and student of the semester.

Students also had the opportunity to recognize the staff for various superlatives. Their votes and voices brought to light the supportive and impactful roles that the faculty and staff play in their daily school life.

Mr. Adams was recognized as staff member of the semester. Students picked him for the award because he is dependable, shows up daily and gives his all. He is known for being easy to talk to and being a good listener who provides valuable feedback. He is always willing to help and is known around the school for being funny and personable.

The luncheon after the awards ceremony provided an opportunity for the Excel community to come together and celebrate each other’s achievements. Students and staff dined on holiday treats and enjoyed a little downtime before saying goodbye to each other before the winter break.
