Academic 3’s Classroom Critters

In an example of turning lemons into lemonade, a recent influx of crickets and grasshoppers on our school grounds has turned into a cross-curricular learning opportunity for the students and staff of Academic 3! After researching information about an appropriate habitat, nutritional needs, and breeding patterns, Academic 3 made a home within their classroom for 17 (and counting!) of these little critters. Classroom Jobs at Sierra!

Despite what students are feeling, they all take their job responsibilities seriously, because they understand that their classroom functions best when they complete their jobs well. When taught and used effectively, classroom jobs may help students build a sense of responsibility, community, and independence. First Day of School 2020

On September 15th, 2020 students finally returned to Room 4. We also welcomed students to two brand new classrooms in Hamden this year! Our 4th, 5th and 6th grade students joined the Dunbar Hill community in Room 3, while our 7th and 8th-grade students are representing High Road in Wintergreen School.
