Andrew Lopez met his exit criteria to return to his home school and has begun transitioning part time. Andrew's behavior has improved significantly and he has become a positive example and role model to his peers. Andrew Lopez is always willing to help all staff. Lorna’s Strong Bond With Students

Lorna Her Many Horses is the Certified Special Education Teacher at Aurora Day School in the SHINE High School room. Ms. Her Many Horses teaches a combination of Life Skills and Academics to our students. She makes the school day fun and exciting. They created a holiday gift shop; with all custom-made items. Isaiah’s Improvements

Isaiah has been working to improve his communication and is reaching out to communicate more effectively with his classmates and staff. Isaiah has always been a kind and friendly classmate, but he began taking the initiative to interact with his classmates on his own throughout December. Tanisha’s Resiliency

Tanisha has demonstrated tremendous resiliency as she continues to excel in her academic studies this month. She has been going through some difficult and trying times at home, however, this has not affected her academic performance. She has exhibited excellent behavior as well. Student of the Month: Joseph

What has Joseph accomplished over the past month to achieve Student of the Month? Joseph has worked very hard to earn his way to be a Gold Level student. He regularly volunteers to run daily errands for his teachers, such as; make copies, sweep the classroom, or help empty trash bins. Aurora Job Fair

Students at Aurora Day School had the opportunity to attend a career fair for Aurora's on-campus jobs. Students who write a resume, apply, and interview for their chosen positions can choose to work for the campus coffee shop, print shop, car wash, or assist with clerical or maintenance tasks. This real-world experience helps support the student's independence and allows them to practice vocational and customer service skills in a variety of settings.
