In honor of World Autism Month, the High Road School of Windham County hosted a vibrant art show that celebrated the theme of uniquenessa tribute to the many ways students experience, interpret, and express the world around them.

“This event gave our students the chance to shine,” said Christine DiGiacomo, operations manager. “The art show highlighted their hard work, individuality, and commitment to our inclusive school community.”

Families and district partners were invited to view a wide array of student-created paintings, sculptures, and 3D artwork. These pieces were the culmination of individual projects inspired by classroom lessons on Rosie’s Glasses, personal identity through Coat of Arms design, the legacy of Greek sculpture, and the power of self-expression.

The show not only highlighted the students’ artistic talents, but also served as a window into the emotional and imaginative worlds of High Road students, many of whom find it easier to communicate through visuals rather than words.

“Our staff makes it clear that there’s no right or wrong in personal expression, which is very important for vulnerable students,” said DiGiacomo.
