Theresa Blazon is our Administrative Assistant at Sierra School at Barrett. Ms.B plays an important role in making sure Sierra School at Barrett functions successfully on a daily basis. Our Director Ms. Harris says, “She is a vital team member in assisting me to keep our campus operating smoothly in many capacities from student attendance to budgets to food services. Theresa always has a positive attitude and displays great flexibility with the many hats she wears at our school.” It’s true that on any given day you can find Ms.B doing attendance, making orders, helping out with lunch, setting up meetings, accepting and making phone calls, managing files online and on paper, preparing for events, and taking students on voluntary time outs!
Since the beginning of the school year, Ms.B has proven herself to be incredibly competent at her job while also being a joyful presence to be around. Ms.Harris says, “Theresa joined our team in August and starting as early as her first week of employment, she was already taking initiative with supporting staff demonstrating her incredible work ethic and diligence!” Many of us can name instances that Ms.B has supported both staff and students. “She has always done print-outs for me. She’s always there, anytime I need help,” Mr.Carter tells me. Ms.B, or Ms.Bonanza, as our students call her, has made an effort to form genuine connections with students. Ms.Elmer says, “She steps in and helps in situations that aren’t in her job description, and makes sure we’re all taken care of.” She also makes herself accessible to help in big and small situations. “I never feel hesitant to ask Ms.B for help because she’s skilled at a variety of things, and she happily offers guidance without a second thought,” says Ms.Murphy.
“In addition to her many administrative tasks, she is wonderful with the students. There isn’t a day that goes by that students are specifically requesting Ms. B to take them on a VTO and spend time with her! I’m very proud to call her my right hand as she is a huge asset to our team here at Sierra School at Barrett,” says Ms.Harris.
