Scott was chosen for student of the month because Scott follows all directions and has not had any prompts in the past two weeks. Scott does all of his schoolwork, is polite to all students and staff, and he is a role model for other students in our school. Learning About Johnny Appleseed

Students in the Hamden In-District classroom have had an exciting fall. After learning about folktales and fables, including Johnny Appleseed, the students took a trip to pick some apples themselves. Staff of the Month: Quenitra Hughes

Nashville native and devout mother of three, Ms. Hughes has gone above and beyond to make a positive impact on the students at High Road. Ms. Hughes joined our team in the second semester of last school year and was part of the instrumental team that turned the school around. Ms. Hughes spent the summer working diligently by painting, cleaning, and moving furniture to have our new building ready for the students on their first day. Barbershop Visit

High Road School of Wallingford High School barber shop has official open and been named the Hornet’s Lounge! On October 23rd and 24th barbers Sheldon and Jayson visited from their shop “Cutting Edge” to give students free haircuts. Before opening their shop in Bridgeport, they had experience working at another school in New York similar to High Road where they would also volunteer and give haircuts. Natural History Museum at Balboa Park

Springall’s high school classes took a field trip to the Natural History Museum at Balboa Park and learned about the different ecosystems in San Diego. Students were able to study the various animal life cycles from a small bug all the way up to a mountain lion. They also studied fossils and participated in hand on experiments at the Ruben H. The TOWN Travel Agency

Students have been busy with the Travel Agency this month in The TOWN. We've visited Tahiti, Scotland, and will soon be making an appearance in Kenya before our last stop in Transylvania. Golfing, castle design and making a Nessie with dough were big hits last week! Students enjoy this weekly opportunity to socialize with peers, practice topic-related conversational skills and gain exposure to new leisure activities. Cave Paintings for Art

In Ms. Rose and Ms. Jess' art class the students are learning about cave paintings. The most notable paintings are found at the caves of Lascaux in Southern France and Altamira in Northern Spain.
