Student Spotlight: Jeremiah’s Growth at Capital Academy

At Capital Academy, student growth often appears in meaningful, measurable ways. For Jeremiah, a 10th-grade student, that progress is evident both in the classroom and in how he engages with others.
During his time in the program, Jeremiah has made impressive strides in his behavior, including reducing negative verbal responses with staff and peers and taking greater accountability for his actions. These changes have helped him build stronger relationships and contribute to a more positive school environment.
Academic Focus and Responsibility
Jeremiah’s academic progress is also noteworthy. He remains focused during class, completes assignments consistently, and advocates for support when needed. He recently told staff that he is earning the best grades he has ever had.
“Jeremiah demonstrates a strong work ethic and consistently puts forth his best effort,” said Ms. Guiseppe. “He has improved in advocating for help, showing responsibility and ownership for his behavior.”
Building Confidence Through Communication
Communication has been another area of growth. Jeremiah shared that he once found it difficult to talk with others, but now feels more confident expressing himself. This shift has supported his overall success at Capital Academy.
Student Growth Capital Academy in Action
English is Jeremiah’s favorite subject, particularly because of his interest in writing.
“I love writing is because it is my passion and I want to thank all my teachers for guiding me through this path,” said Jeremiah. “The reason I really love this school is because they have helped me out so much and now I am getting the best grades I ever had, my happiness and my thankfulness is above the sky for the school and teachers.”
Jeremiah’s progress reflects a consistent effort to build new skills and stay engaged in learning. Capital Academy staff look forward to seeing his continued growth in the months ahead.
Supporting Student Growth Every Day
Capital Academy helps students get back on track. The school serves students in grades K-12 who have faced behavior challenges in a traditional school setting. Through a structured and supportive environment that emphasizes academics, behavior, and personal growth, students can build the skills and confidence needed to return to their home school and succeed.
