High Road School of Nashville Students Enjoy ESY Field Trip

A summer day at the park gave High Road School of Nashville students a chance to learn, play, and spend time together outside of the classroom.
ESY Field Trip Builds Skills Outside the Classroom
During a recent Extended School Year (ESY) field trip, students visited a local park for a day filled with recreation and social interaction. The outing offered a new environment in which students could practice communication, cooperation, and self-confidence with support from staff.
The day included a spirited student-versus-staff kickball game, giving everyone a chance to work together and enjoy friendly competition. The game quickly became one of the trip’s most memorable moments.
Building Confidence Through Park Activities
Students also spent time enjoying the park’s swings, slides, and obstacle course. Others spent one-on-one time with staff, building trust and strengthening positive relationships in a relaxed outdoor setting. Following lunch, students returned to campus for dismissal after a successful day of fun and teamwork.
Meaningful Learning During ESY
The field trip demonstrated how High Road School of Nashville creates meaningful learning opportunities throughout ESY. By pairing structured support with engaging experiences, the school helps students practice social skills, build independence, and celebrate progress in everyday moments.
