Students Explore Sustainability Through Creative Projects

Students at Northwest Center for Autism marked Earth Day with a series of hands-on activities focused on environmental awareness and sustainability.

On Fab Friday, students used recycled materials to create original artwork, filling classrooms with creativity. The project encouraged students to think differently about everyday items and explore how they can repurpose them instead of throwing them away.

Hands-On Earth Day Celebration Activities

Students also planted flower seeds in recycled containers, learning about plant growth while gaining a deeper understanding of how to care for the environment. The activity offered a tangible way to connect lessons about sustainability with real-world action.

In addition, each class worked together to build a birdhouse, combining teamwork with creativity. The finished birdhouses will be displayed at the school’s upcoming spring sing art exhibit.

Through these activities, students explored concepts related to sustainability, developed a greater sense of responsibility and appreciation for the world around them.
