The Graham Academy Celebrates Students Who Model CASE Values

At The Graham Academy, staff and students celebrate peers who embody the values of CASE: Consideration, Accountability, Safety, and Engagement.

The positive behavior framework helps students strengthen self-management skills, develop positive coping strategies, and take greater responsibility for their choices.

This month, The Graham Academy is recognizing Justice Steinmetz, Harrison Archer, and Amare Singleton for the ways they demonstrate CASE values throughout the school day.

From their work in the classroom to their interactions with peers, each has given staff plenty of reasons to celebrate their progress.

Students Demonstrate CASE Values Across the School Day

Justice Steinmetz, Graham Academy Lower School, Grade 5, Age 10

C – Consideration

Justice is a considerate student who treats his classmates and teachers with kindness and respect. He pays attention to how others are feeling and steps in to help when a classmate needs support.

A – Accountability

Justice is an accountable student who takes responsibility for his actions and schoolwork. He also puts consistent effort into completing his assignments.

When something doesn’t go as planned, he is willing to learn from the experience and make a different choice next time.

S – Safety

Justice follows classroom and school expectations and makes responsible choices throughout the day. He also helps maintain a welcoming environment by treating those around him with respect.

E – Engagement

Justice participates in classroom activities, contributes to discussions and works hard to stay focused during lessons. His willingness to take part and contribute makes him an active member of his classroom.

Harrison Archer, Graham Academy Upper School, Grade 7, Age 12

C – Consideration

Harrison is friendly and respectful in his interactions with students and staff. He readily helps others, and his positive approach contributes to a welcoming atmosphere at school.

A – Accountability

Harrison also takes pride in his work. He consistently makes an effort to do his best.

He works to meet classroom and school expectations and takes responsibility for making positive choices throughout the day.

S – Safety

He understands school expectations and works hard to follow them. Through his everyday choices and the respect he shows others, he sets a positive example for his peers.

E – Engagement

His consistency stands out to staff. Rather than waiting for reminders, Harrison works independently to stay engaged and make good choices throughout the school day.

Amare Singleton, Graham Academy Lower School, Grade 5, Age 10

C – Consideration

Amare is a kind and caring friend who enjoys building relationships with his peers. He makes an effort to include others and helps his classmates feel welcome.

A – Accountability

Amare continues to work each day on using his coping strategies, communicating appropriately and meeting CASE expectations.

Staff are especially proud of his willingness to reflect after challenging moments, work to repair relationships and try again.

S – Safety

Amare has made progress in communicating his wants and needs appropriately.

When he becomes frustrated, he is learning to use kind words, take a breath and respect others’ personal space.

E – Engagement

Amare enjoys participating in classroom activities and discussions.

His sense of humor brings plenty of laughter to the classroom. His creative side also comes through in the action figures and other creations he builds from pipe cleaners.

Celebrating Growth at The Graham Academy

Deeply rooted in the northeastern Pennsylvania community, The Graham Academy was founded in 2008 to serve students in grades 1-6.

Since then, the school has expanded to serve students in grades K-12 and offer an adult preparation program.

Today, The Graham Academy operates three campuses in Kingston, Luzerne, and Mayfield. The school provides specialized educational programming designed around each student’s individual needs.
