Antaniya Starts Strong at Capital Academy

Seventh grader Antaniya is only a few weeks into her first year at Capital Academy. She is already giving her teachers plenty to celebrate.
Since arriving on the first day of school, Antaniya has consistently earned about 95% of her daily behavior points. She has also maintained high As across her classes. Her strong start earned her Student of the Week honors during the school’s first ratings cycle.
Building Momentum at Capital Academy
The early success represents important growth for Antaniya. Before coming to Capital Academy, she sometimes struggled to remain in class and stay focused on her own goals. At her new school, staff have seen a student who is engaged in her learning and makes positive choices. She also works hard throughout the day.
Jes Weary, director of special education at Capital Academy, credits the relationships Antaniya began building with staff from her first day. She has responded well to the team and the structure of the program. Her progress is showing both academically and behaviorally.
Strong Academics and Student of the Week Recognition
Antaniya’s grades have remained consistently strong across her classes, though art is a particular favorite. She especially enjoys coloring and painting.
She is equally proud of the progress she has made with her daily behavior points. Antaniya is also proud of being named Student of the Week. When Antaniya learned she had earned the honor, she was ecstatic. Her grandmother treated her to Dairy Queen to celebrate.
Staying Focused on Her Goals
Now, Antaniya is focused on continuing the strong start she has made. Her goal is to demonstrate through her academics and behavior that she can be successful when she eventually returns to her home school.
For a student who arrived at Capital Academy at the beginning of the school year, those first weeks have already shown her potential. Antaniya continues to demonstrate what she can accomplish when she is engaged, supported, and focused on her goals.
