Caleb Builds Coping Skills at High Road School of Fairfield County

Just a few weeks into the new school year, sixth-grader Caleb is already finding his place. He recently joined High Road School of Fairfield County.
Caleb, 11, joined the school at the beginning of the year to focus on his coping skills. He quickly began connecting with classmates and staff. He is also learning new routines and becoming an active member of his classroom community.
Building Positive Relationships
His classroom teacher, Ms. Cindy, is especially impressed by the way Caleb looks out for his classmates.
“He is such a kind young man and is always looking to help other students in the classroom,” she said.
That positive approach carries into other parts of his school day. Caleb arrives each morning with a smile and is eager to get started. He has been building relationships with peers and staff while becoming increasingly comfortable with classroom routines and expectations.
Strengthening Coping Skills
Staff report Caleb is already making significant progress with his coping skills. He is learning to utilize breaks and other coping tools when he becomes frustrated. For the High Road School of Fairfield County team, Caleb’s quick adjustment has been an encouraging start to the year.
“Caleb is such a hard-working student, I hope to continue watching him utilize his coping skills and use it across all environments,” said Ms. Marcelin, program lead at High Road School of Fairfield County.
Continuing a Strong Start
As the school year continues, Caleb will have opportunities to build on that strong start. He can continue developing new skills and strengthening the relationships he has already begun forming.
The High Road School of Fairfield County team is excited to have him as part of the school community. Staff look forward to celebrating his progress throughout the year.
