Josh S. Student Spotlight Highlights a Year of Growth

Josh S., a 10th grader at High Road School of Anne Arundel County, has shown tremendous growth this school year through his self-awareness, maturity, and commitment to others.

Early in the school year, he recognized that October historically has been a challenging month for him. As a result, he proactively spoke with staff and worked with them to put supports in place ahead of time. That level of reflection and ownership speaks volumes about his growth.

Demonstrating Kindness and Leadership

Josh has also become increasingly self-motivated and takes pride in helping around the building. He holds a student job and approaches it with dedication and care. An exceptionally kind student, Josh consistently offers support and encouragement to a peer who struggles with communication. He cheers him on, offers kindness without prompting, and models true compassion.

Creating a Positive School Community

One of the best parts of the staff’s day is Josh greeting them each morning with a smile and saying goodbye at the end of the day. His positivity and respect help set the tone for the school community.

Josh’s hard work and growth earned him Student of the Month honors in January, a well-deserved recognition of the significant progress he has made.
