Excel Academy Central’s Erin Kelly named Outstanding Counselor

Outstanding Counselor award recognizes Erin Kelly

Excel Academy Central school counselor Erin Kelly has earned the Outstanding Counselor award from the Opportunity Network for her work connecting students with career and postsecondary opportunities. The award recognizes the impact school counselors have in helping students succeed academically and plan for careers.

Supporting students with goals and a plan

“Ms. Kelly is a wonderful example of what a good counselor should be,” said Jarrad Muller, executive director of Excel Academy Central. “She supports students facing anxiety, stress, and frustration and ensures every graduating senior leaves with achievable goals and a plan for the future.”

A recognition of teamwork and impact

Kelly said the award reflects a team effort.

“I work with a group of outstanding counselors, and it is an honor to be nominated by my peers,” she said. “This recognition means a great deal to me.”

The Opportunity Network, the School District of Philadelphia’s alternative education system, operates more than 20 programs across the city. It provides nontraditional educational options for out-of-school youth, students at risk of dropping out, and students subject to disciplinary transfer or expulsion.
