Celebrating the Summer School Graduation

Diplomas were served with a side of donuts as SESI programs across Philadelphia celebrated 54 students who completed their graduation requirements during summer school.

The July 16 celebration recognized students for reaching an important academic milestone after dedicating part of their summer to completing coursework. Two additional students are expected to finish after completing one remaining week of a School District of Philadelphia class required for graduation.

Students Reflect on Their Progress

For some students, the moment brought relief. For others, it offered an opportunity to reflect on the progress they made and the relationships they formed along the way.

“Thank you so much for being a part of my life in such a short time,” student Kabirah A. told staff. “You all left a huge impact that will last a lifetime. I’m deeply grateful for your support, service and just the overall personalities. It was wonderful being around y’all.”

Jyfir R. also thanked staff for supporting him as he worked toward graduation.

“I learned more, and now I’m out,” he said. “It’s crazy, but I’m happy.”

Student Adam T. summed up his summer experience simply: “I learned more this summer than I did all year.”

Analis B. offered an equally candid response: “Glad it’s finally over.”

Recognizing Attendance and Staff Support

The celebration also marked a day of perfect attendance. This allowed students and staff to recognize the work that went into completing the summer program.

Teachers Mr. Amoroso, Mr. Bam, Ms. Boone, Ms. Burnett and Mr. Izzy provided daily instruction and encouragement throughout the session. Staff members Michael Blunt, Brunson and Mr. Wayne supported the program’s operations and helped keep each day running smoothly.

Academic lead Tiffany “Ms. Tiff” Davis helped guide the summer school program, supporting students and staff throughout the session. Additionally, she helped ensure graduates had what they needed to complete their requirements.

SESI is proud to recognize the achievements of the Class of 2026 and congratulates all graduates on their important accomplishment.
