Celebrating Vaughn’s Growth at Southwick Zoo

A First Field Trip to Remember
When students feel supported and confident, even small moments can become milestones. For Vaughn, a ninth-grader at High Road School of Windham County, one recent experience marked an exciting step forward.
This spring, Vaughn enthusiastically said “Yes!” to attending his very first school field trip. He joined classmates and staff on a visit to Southwick Zoo in Massachusetts.
His joy was clear throughout the day, and his father described the experience as “an epic milestone for him.”

This moment highlights Vaughn’s courage, as well as the trust and strong relationships he has built with staff. Feeling supported and confident enough to take part in this new experience marks significant social and emotional growth.
“The High Road community is incredibly proud of Vaughn,” said Christine DiGiacomo, operations manager, High Road School of Windham County. “His personal milestone also serves as an example of how a supportive environment can help students grow and reach new goals. We look forward to continuing to support Vaughn on his journey.”
