High Road Students Enjoy Maritime Aquarium Field Trip

Sharks, jellyfish, and other underwater sea life brought learning to the surface when students from High Road School of Fairfield County visited the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk.

Learning Comes to Life During the Maritime Aquarium Field Trip

Students toured exhibits featuring a variety of marine life and local ecosystems while learning more about ocean and wildlife conservation. Throughout the field trip, students had the opportunity to see aquatic species up close, ask questions, and connect classroom instruction with the real-world experience.

Building Life Skills Beyond the Classroom

The trip also gave students an opportunity to practice essential life skills, such as communication, patience, problem-solving, teamwork, and appropriate community behavior. Students represented High Road School with pride by demonstrating the school’s CASE values: being Considerate, Accountable, Safe, and Engaged throughout the experience.

“Community-based learning experiences such as this play an important role in the school’s educational program, helping students build confidence, increase independence and develop the social-emotional skills necessary for success both in and out of the classroom,” said Victoria Williams, assistant school director.

Supporting Student Growth in the Community

Staff members supported students throughout the trip, helping them engage with the exhibits, navigate the aquarium, and make the most of the experience.
