High Road School of Wright City Welcomes New School Staff
High Road School of Wright City is starting the 2026-27 school year with two new professionals joining its team to support students academically, socially, and behaviorally: Laney Wirthlin, social worker, and Kaitlyn Scurlock, board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA). Each brings specialized experience and a commitment to helping students build the skills and confidence they need to succeed in school and beyond.
Meet the New School Staff at High Road School of Wright City
Laney Wirthlin Joins as Social Worker
As the school’s social worker, Wirthlin provides individualized support to help students develop social skills, emotional regulation, and calming techniques.
Support may include group sessions, one-on-one interventions, and other targeted services. She earned a master’s degree in social work from the University of Kentucky. Additionally, she received her licensed master social worker credential over the summer. Laney has worked in multiple educational settings and brings a love for working with students. She is committed to creating a nurturing, supportive environment where every student can reach their full potential.
Wirthlin uses a strengths-based approach to help students recognize their skills and talents while developing social skills and strategies they can use throughout their lives. She especially values opportunities to support young people as they grow and build confidence.
Outside of school, Wirthlin enjoys crocheting, baking, reading, and exploring new hobbies. She also cares for her bearded dragon, Jinx. Wirthlin looks forward to getting to know students and families at High Road School of Wright City this school year and becoming part of the school community.
Kaitlyn Scurlock Joins as BCBA
Scurlock, the school’s new BCBA, has worked in applied behavior analysis for 10 years in an early intervention clinical setting. She spent five years as a behavior technician and registered behavior technician before becoming a BCBA in July 2021 and is excited to now work in a school environment. Scurlock looks forward to building relationships with students, teachers, staff, and families.
Outside of work, Scurlock enjoys spending time with her husband and their two young sons. Together, they enjoy being outdoors, playing sports, finding creeks to explore, and making the most of every day.
Supporting Students in the New School Year
School director Gregg Hulsey and the entire school community look forward to the experience, care, and support Wirthlin and Scurlock will bring to students and families this year.
