High Road School of Cole County Students Celebrate Success

Students at High Road School of Cole County earned a special afternoon treat from Sonic this month after meeting classroom behavioral goals and demonstrating positive interactions with their peers.
Students Celebrate Success Through Weekly Incentives
The event was part of the school’s weekly incentive program, which gives students across grade levels an opportunity to earn rewards by meeting daily expectations. Staff selected Sonic based on students’ enthusiasm for the restaurant and the success of a previous Sonic celebration.
Students knew about the upcoming reward through the school’s incentive calendar, and staff reinforced the goal throughout the week to help keep them motivated.
“Students feel successful when they meet their goals,” said Lauren Wolters, program director at High Road School of Cole County. “The more success they achieve, the more motivated they are to continue engaging in appropriate behaviors.”
Students celebrated with their choice of Sonic favorites, including mozzarella sticks, fries, tots, pretzel twists, ice cream sundaes, and specialty drinks.
