Celebrating Autism Awareness Day at the Sierra School of Gilbert

Autism Awareness Day at Sierra School of Gilbert was nothing short of amazing. Students, families, staff, and community came together to celebrate in a way that was meaningful, fun, and full of heart.

Leading up to the big day, students got hands-on with preparations — tie-dyeing bright blue shirts and crafting “Sierra Cards,” with thoughtful thank-you notes to local businesses.

The celebration kicked off with a parade where students proudly delivered their thank-you cards and handed out Autism Awareness bracelets to nearby businesses. Families joined in the festivities, walking alongside their children and helping spread awareness and appreciation throughout the community.

Back on campus, there was a lively carnival featuring a jump house and obstacle course for students to enjoy. Guests cooled off with slushies and snacked on popcorn while enjoying the upbeat, inclusive atmosphere. Joining in the fun were members of the local police department who helped make the day even more special.

In total, the school welcomed more than 50 family members, district partners, neighbors, and community supporters to the event. Their presence made a big impact, turning the Autism Awareness Day into a true celebration of connection, understanding, and support.
