Since enrolling at the High Road School of Fairfield County in November 2024, Rosemary has made extraordinary personal and behavioral strides. Now an eighth grader, she has shown significant improvement in managing her emotions and is emerging as a trusted leader among fellow students.

When Rosemary first joined the program, she often shut down when frustrated or overwhelmed. “Now, when something is bothering her, she’s able to communicate calmly and respectfully with staff,” said Victoria Williams, operations manager and special education teacher. “That’s a huge shift and something we’re really proud of.”

Achieving Gold Status Through Dedication at High Road School of Fairfield County

A highly motivated student, Rosemary recently reached gold status, the highest tier in the school’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports framework, after independently tracking her progress, collecting three staff references, and submitting a well-written essay. Achieving gold earns her privileges like greater independence around the building and discounts on school-wide incentives. It also reflects her growing confidence and commitment.

“She was so excited about moving to gold status,” Williams said. “She had everything ready – her references, her application – she even had the date circled for when she could officially hand it in.”

A Leader Known for Kindness and Teamwork

Rosemary has become known not only for her academic strengths but also for her kindness and willingness to help others. Whether laminating materials for teachers or assisting younger students during school events, she pitches in with enthusiasm. “She’s like a little staff member,” said Williams.

What drives Rosemary? A desire to return to public school before high school and make her family proud, especially her uncle, who ensures she has the structure and support to succeed.

“Once she sets her mind to something, she really can do it,” Williams said. Rosemary’s dedication, maturity, and positive influence make her an outstanding role model for her peers, and the entire team is incredibly proud of her accomplishments.”
