London Finds a Fresh Start

A New Beginning at Rubino Academy
When London arrived at Rubino Academy, the high school senior needed a fresh start.
After losing both her father and grandmother, London struggled to attend classes and complete her work at her previous school. She fell behind in credits and was referred to Rubino Academy by the Trenton Public School District.
Finding Comfort and Connection
London said Rubino Academy’s smaller school and class sizes made a difference. She had found the size of her previous high school overwhelming, and at Rubino, she found a setting where she felt more comfortable asking for help.
She also developed connections with staff members she describes as understanding and approachable.
Making Academic Progress and Leading Others
Since enrolling, London has made strides academically while emerging as a leader among her peers. She became the first student to join Rubino Academy’s Ram’s Club/Student Government after completing the school’s Ram Packet.
In September, London was also named Student of the Month. Her teachers say she participates and engages with course content while supporting her classmates and helping create a positive learning environment.
Looking Ahead With Purpose
London is already thinking about her next move and has plans to become a licensed esthetician. She also has another long-term goal inspired by helping others: opening a women’s shelter that provides safe housing for women in need.
