Zaleerah Becomes a Student Leader at Rubino Academy

Recognizing the Need for Change
When eighth grader Zaleerah arrived at Rubino Academy during the 2025–26 school year, she knew she needed to make some changes.
Referred by the Trenton Public School District, Zaleerah had struggled with distractions, walking the hallways and conflicts with peers at her previous school. She recognized that some of the people she spent time with were influencing her choices.

Making Progress With Positive Support
Since enrolling at Rubino Academy, Zaleerah has made progress both academically and behaviorally. She credits being around positive influences and having teachers and staff who hold her accountable with helping her make better choices.
That growth is also evident in the way Zaleerah interacts with her peers. She has emerged as a student leader, encouraging classmates to make good choices and taking an active role during group work.
Stepping Into a Leadership Role
Her leadership recently earned her another distinction—Zaleerah became the first middle school student to join Rubino Academy’s Ram’s Club/Student Government after completing the school’s Ram Packet.
In September, Zaleerah was also named Student of the Month. Her teachers describe her as an active participant who brings a positive attitude to class, completes her work and demonstrates a strong work ethic.
Setting Goals for the Future
Zaleerah said she is most proud of the improvements she has made in her behavior and academics. She is already thinking about life after school and is considering careers as either a nurse or hairstylist.
