High Road School of Wright City recently recognized Madison Jones as its August Student of the Month and Grayson Wren with an Honorable Mention. The two students were celebrated for the positive example they set at school and the student leadership they demonstrated beyond the classroom.

Taking Student Leadership Into the Community

Their recognition also came with an opportunity to represent High Road in the community. Accompanied by staff member Kaylin Allee, Madison and Grayson visited neighboring businesses in the school’s shopping center to hand out flyers and extend invitations to High Road’s upcoming Trunk or Treat event on Oct. 30.

The students stopped at several nearby businesses, including Pulque Mexican Restaurant, Pet on Parade Grooming Salon, Jet Physical Therapy, Domino’s and Wright City Dental, among others. They spoke with local business owners and employees while sharing information about the upcoming event.

“This outreach gave Madison and Grayson a unique opportunity to build real-world leadership skills while strengthening our bonds with local business partners,” said Meaghan Bell, IEP coordinator at High Road School of Wright City. “We are so proud of how well they represented our school community.”

Building Skills Beyond the Classroom

The experience gave Madison and Grayson a chance to practice communicating with others and representing their school outside the classroom. Their outreach also helped spread the word about an event designed to bring the High Road and Wright City communities together.

Opportunities like these allow students to apply communication, confidence, and leadership skills in real-world settings while building stronger connections with the community around them.

High Road School of Wright City provides individualized instruction in small, structured classrooms to support students’ academic, social, and behavioral growth. The school combines evidence-based practices with specialized services to help students build skills they can use at school and in their communities.
