CharacterStrong at Sierra Gilbert: Respect in Action

CharacterStrong Brings Purposeful People to Sierra Gilbert
Sierra School of Gilbert is excited to introduce our new social and emotional curriculum, CharacterStrong helps our students build important character traits and social-emotional skills. These skills support them at school, at home, and in their community.
We believe students thrive when schools and families work together. This partnership creates meaningful opportunities for students to grow, connect, and thrive.
Through Purposeful People, students learn what positive character traits look like in everyday situations. They also practice these skills throughout the school day.
The goal is to help students understand how their choices, words, and actions affect others. Students can use these lessons to make a positive impact on the people around them.
Building Character at School and at Home
Each month, we will focus on one character trait. Students will learn about the trait at school and have opportunities to practice and strengthen it in their everyday lives. We will also share simple ideas and resources with families so you can continue these conversations and experiences at home.
By creating a shared language around character, students can receive consistent encouragement both at school and at home. These lessons can become part of everyday moments, whether students are working with classmates, communicating with adults, solving problems, or learning how to navigate challenging situations.
Celebrating Respect at Sierra Gilbert
This month’s trait at Sierra Gilbert is “RESPECT,” and students were nominated and recognized from each class for demonstrating this trait consistently at school.
Respect can take many forms. It may look like listening when someone else is speaking, treating classmates and staff with kindness, taking care of shared spaces, following expectations, or showing consideration for another person’s feelings and needs.
Recognizing students who consistently demonstrate these behaviors gives our school community an opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments while also providing positive examples for their peers.
A Hallway Celebration for Our Students
Our students and staff lined the hallways to celebrate the accomplishments of this month’s honorees and promote these positive behaviors throughout the school.
As each recognized student made their way through the hallway, they were greeted with applause, encouragement, and plenty of smiles from their Sierra Gilbert community.
Moments like these help reinforce that character matters. We are proud of our students who demonstrated respect this month and look forward to celebrating even more students as we continue exploring new character traits throughout the school year.
