During Mental Health Awareness Month, staff at High Road School of Cecil County are reaching out to parents and community partners, advocating for students and helping families connect with mental health resources.

Mental Health Support for Students and Families

Proactive support, early intervention, and strong wraparound services can help children thrive academically and emotionally.

“After the pandemic hit, many of our families felt the strain of keeping pace with academics, behavior, and mental health on their own,” said Louis Guertin, director at High Road School of Cecil County.

Those needs did not disappear when schools reopened.

“Even now, access to mental health services remains slow and families still need all the support they can get,” he said.

Staying Connected Through Support

Staff encourages families to seek support that helps children express their needs, frustrations, and anxieties while building skills for the future. Staying connected to schools, community events, and local services can make a meaningful difference.

As summer approaches, staff encourage families to stay engaged and connected. Being present each day is one of the most important ways to support a child’s mental health and well-being.

Supporting Academic, Social, and Behavioral Growth

Designed to nurture students’ academic, social, and behavioral growth, High Road School of Cecil County provides individualized instruction in smaller, structured classrooms. The private day school goes beyond what typical classrooms provide, offering an evidence-based approach, including a comprehensive range of specialized services and a team of highly-trained educators to help students and their families shine.
