High Road School of Cole County is proud to introduce its very first Student Spotlight, recognizing 7th-grade student Simon. Simon’s continued growth across academic, social, and life skills areas reflects his dedication and positive attitude toward learning.

Since joining the school community, Simon has demonstrated consistent effort in building important everyday skills that support his independence and confidence.

Building Essential Life Skills

Simon has worked hard to expand his knowledge of public safety signs and community sight words, making meaningful progress in an area that plays a key role in daily life. His growing understanding of these concepts shows both focus and determination.

In addition to this progress, Simon has improved his handwriting skills, particularly in writing his name. This achievement highlights his persistence and attention to detail, and it is a milestone he can take pride in.

Developing Self-Awareness and Independence

Another area of growth for Simon has been his ability to recognize when tasks become overwhelming. He has made strong progress in identifying these moments and appropriately asking for breaks when needed.

Simon’s willingness to try new things has contributed to noticeable improvements in his motor skills and social interactions. He has broadened his play experiences and now actively initiates games such as catch and “the floor is lava” with his peers.
