First Annual Chili Cook Off Brings Fun and Community to Sierra School of Tucson

Sierra School of Tucson brought the heat and plenty of excitement during its first annual Chili Cook Off. Teachers and staff arrived ready to compete, each bringing a crockpot of their best homemade chili for students to taste and vote on.

A Delicious Way to Build Community

The goal of the event was simple: food, fun, and a chance for students and staff to connect in a creative way. Students enjoyed the responsibility of selecting the winning dishes, making the experience both engaging and meaningful.

Meet the Golden Spoon Winner

After all chili samples were tasted and the votes were counted, the coveted Golden Spoon Award went to Sierra School of Tucson director Mrs. Christa Haines. Her recipe wowed the student judges and earned the top spot. Second place was awarded to Bloom teacher Ms. Selina Lucas. Third place was accepted by high school teacher Mr. Anthony Prince, rounding out a very flavorful competition.

Moments that Made Everyone Smile

Two standout photos captured the excitement of the day. One photo shows a staff member taking a selfie while holding a coffee mug that reads, “Tears of my chili cook-off opponents.” This playful moment summed up the friendly spirit of the event.

Another group photo features six smiling participants, including staff and students. Several are proudly holding wooden spoons, while one student wraps his arms around classmates and staff, showing the sense of camaraderie that made this event so special.

A New Tradition Begins

Sierra School of Tucson plans to continue this event as a fun and engaging tradition that brings students and staff together. With great food, teamwork, and plenty of laughter, this first Chili Cook Off was a memorable success!
