Graham Academy Thanksgiving Dinner Brings Community Together

Each November, The Graham Academy hosts a special Thanksgiving dinner for the school community and friends. This year’s event had an incredible turnout, with over 600 people gathering for a traditional turkey dinner with lots of sides and desserts.

Strengthening Relationships Across Campuses

“Our Thanksgiving dinner is a demonstration of the strong relationships that exist between our students, families, and staff,” said Carol McGrane, regional director of The Graham Academy. “Bringing more than 600 people together across three campuses reflects the trust and partnership we have built with those we serve.”

Students Take Meaningful Roles in the Celebration

Students played meaningful roles in preparing food, setting up spaces, and welcoming guests, all hands-on experiences that help build independence, confidence, and essential life skills. Their contributions demonstrated how real-world learning is woven into everyday programming at The Graham Academy.

A Welcoming Experience for Every Family

“Our goal is always to create a school community where every family feels welcomed and supported,” said McGrane. “We’re grateful to everyone who helped make it such a memorable evening.”

Additionally, families had a delicious meal. Not only that, but the event offered a rare opportunity to connect with one another and with staff. Many expressed that this was one of the school events where they felt most welcomed and engaged.

The impact extended far beyond the evening itself. “Students beamed with excitement as they saw their efforts bring joy to others, reinforcing positive self-esteem and a sense of belonging,” said McGrane.

Why the Graham Academy Thanksgiving Dinner Matters

Ultimately, the Thanksgiving Dinner captured The Graham Academy’s values in action – gratitude, inclusion, and partnership.

“It was a celebration of what we can accomplish when we come together in support of our students. The goodwill and unity it fostered continue to resonate across the entire community,” said McGrane.
