High Road Academy of Howard County is proud to recognize Erin W., a 12th-grade student, as the March 2026 Student Spotlight. Since joining the school community in August 2023, Erin has shown consistent academic growth while making a meaningful and positive impact on both her peers and staff.

Throughout her time at High Road Academy of Howard County, Erin has demonstrated a strong commitment to her personal development, particularly in the area of communication. Her efforts have not gone unnoticed by those who support her each day.

Progress Through Assistive Technology

According to Ms. K. Davis, the school’s social worker, Erin has made notable strides in using her assistive technology device to communicate more effectively.

“Erin has been working really hard on communicating using her assistive technology device. She asks for things she needs and wants and is answering questions when called on.”

This progress reflects Erin’s dedication and willingness to engage more actively in her learning environment. Her ability to express her needs and respond during class highlights both her growth and her increasing confidence.

When asked what she enjoys about High Road Academy, Erin shared her perspective using her device, saying, “I like that the classes aren’t big and usually aren’t noisy.”
