Under the Stars – Prom at Sierra School of Scottsdale

It was a night to remember when students from the Sierra Schools of Scottsdale, Gilbert, and Gateway recently celebrated prom.

This year’s prom theme, “Starry Night, Under the Stars,” transformed the Sierra School of Scottsdale into a magical experience for students. The celebration included music and dancing, corsages and boutonnieres, and a delicious catered lunch.

Sierra Schools Prom Creates Lasting Memories

The Sierra School programs focus on building essential life skills and self-esteem. We prepare students to become responsible, independent adults while celebrating who they are today. Events such as prom offer an opportunity for students to shine, connect with peers, and create cherished memories in a supportive environment.

The event was filled with lots of smiles and laughter – a true testament to the sense of community and joy that defines Sierra Schools.

Students and Staff Reflect on the Celebration

“As students from visiting campuses were headed to the buses, they thanked me for an amazing time,” said Jameril Johnson, school director, Sierra School of Scottdale. “They said, ‘Thank you, prom was so much fun. The food, decorations and music were awesome’.”

A teacher also shared that they never had a chance to attend their own high school prom, making this experience especially meaningful. “They said it was beautiful,” said Johnson.

Special thanks go to the parent volunteer who DJ’d the event, Mr. DeJesus. Everyone thought he did an amazing job and had a blast.

The afternoon ended with plenty of smiles and memories that students will carry with them long after prom.
