Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Lauren McDonald

Mrs. Lauren has brought great energy to a team that already had plenty of positive momentum heading into the 2026-27 school year.

She recently stepped into the Behavior Specialist role for the Kent County Delaware IDCs and has also taken a leading role temporarily in the Lake Forest High Road Compass Classroom. The classroom serves students ranging from kindergarten through fourth grade and experiences significant activity and challenges throughout the day.

Lauren has done an amazing job modeling the way, supporting new staff, and embracing a new location for the classroom.

Bringing Positive Energy to the Classroom

Lauren’s energy is contagious. The staff in the room match her positive attitude, and that energy is reflected in the way students engage with one another in the classroom.

Whether she is finding videos of planes or trains to help redirect a student who may be heading toward a crisis, singing silly songs to keep students engaged and having fun, or moving on to support the next student, Mrs. Lauren continues working to bring out the best in each child.

Mrs. Lauren is doing great things, and her impact as a Behavior Specialist is only just beginning.

Student Spotlight: Zy’Keese Florestal-Young

Zy’Keese has entered the 2026-27 school year with a positive attitude. As a seventh grader, he understands the expectations in the High Road classroom and has become a classroom leader.

Leading by Example

Whether he is helping build out the sensory room for younger students, showing them how to appropriately navigate the hallway, or modeling positive behavior for his grade-level peers, Zy’Keese has done it all with a smile.

We are excited to see the growth Zy’Keese has made as part of our High Road at Lake Forest Compass Program.

Congratulations, Zy’Keese! We look forward to seeing you continue to grow throughout the school year.
