Thanksgiving Feast in Hartford With Special Attendees

High Road Hartford Thanksgiving Feast Brings the Community Together
The High Road School of Hartford Primary recently held its annual Thanksgiving Feast, a tradition that feels bigger every year.
“The feast is one of the best attended school events for the entire year,” said Jennifer Johnson, executive director of High Road Schools of Connecticut. It brings families, students, and all school staff together to sit down and enjoy a meal, discuss family traditions, and put faces to names. People also just get to eat some really yummy food!”
Holiday Foods and Fun at the Thanksgiving Feast
Johnson said the crowd always loves the desserts, including pies and cupcakes. The holiday meal also provides students with an opportunity to explore different foods.
“We love encouraging the students to try something new and different – at least a little bit,” she said.
Special Attendees Join the High Road Hartford Thanksgiving Feast
Making this year’s event even more memorable, the High Road community was joined by local officers from the Hartford Police Department and firefighters from the Hartford Fire Department.
For many students, it’s a chance to see first responders in a new context. And for the officers and firefighters who attend, it’s an opportunity to connect and relax.
Building School and Community Partnerships
The school’s Education Director, Lindsey Russo, said that while touring the officers around the classrooms, she had the opportunity to speak about the importance of school and community partnership.
“The officers joined the classrooms for an amazing meal, and students got to show off some of the assignments they’ve been working on,” said Russo. “The officers also showed the students their police vehicles and how the sirens work and the loudspeaker.”
