Two Excel Middle Years Academy students were honored for their leadership and personal growth during an upscale gala held by The Lee Monument Foundation, a non-profit organization designed to help families that can’t afford to purchase a headstone for their child. The event marked the culmination of a yearlong leadership program aimed at empowering young students with the skills and confidence to lead.

Zion Miller (left) and Mekhi Swain-McMillian (right) were recognized for their growth and dedication. They received gift cards and were celebrated in front of an enthusiastic audience that included local politicians, business leaders, and community members. Dressed to impress, the students radiated excitement and pride, with their families and the community beaming with support.

“The evening was a powerful testament to the potential of youth leadership and the importance of investing in our future,” said Sadiqa D. Lucas, M.Ed., executive director, Excel Middle Years Academy.
