Thunderbolt Academy held our First Annual Women’s Empowerment Luncheon on March 29th. Mrs. Powell, one of our school social workers, did an amazing job putting together this powerful event for our Thunderbolt ladies. We invited three guest speakers: Judge Todd, Denise Powell, and Janay Harden, who each spoke words of encouragement and guidance to our female students.

Mrs. Lugo directed a dance with two of our middle school students, Zariah Bard and Briaisha Hunter. We also had poem readings by two of our senior student government members, Alay’siah and Nylayah. Everyone took part in our mirror activity, “Look what I see…,” where each guest wrote on a sticky note something positive they see within themselves. Each note was then placed around the mirror. We had both school district and community partners in attendance.
