Sierra Schools of Arizona Join YES Day Walk for Autism

All nine Sierra Schools of Arizona recently participated in the YES Day Walk for Autism resource fair, hosted by the Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC), marking the schools’ first time taking part in the annual event.

The fair hosted organizations and families from across Arizona for a day dedicated to raising awareness and celebrating inclusion.

Connecting Families and Expanding Autism Resources

Sierra Schools of Arizona had a resource booth staffed by more than 20 team members who greeted families, shared information about the school’s programs, and invited visitors to spin the popular prize wheel.

Families were anxious to learn about individualized education programs offered by Sierra across the state. Sierra staff also collaborated with other participating organizations to expand their network of local resources. Several partners were invited to join Sierra’s upcoming resource fairs, which will be hosted by three schools later this year.

Each year, YES Day connects families with more than 60 organizations offering autism and community resources from across Arizona. Events like this help SARRC continue its mission to build supportive, inclusive communities for people with autism and their families.

Building Inclusive Communities Through YES Day

“Not only did this event raise awareness about autism needs in our community, but our entire school community showed up to support,” said Clark Crace, regional director of Sierra Schools of Arizona. “As first-time participants, we were thrilled to share our schools as a resource for families looking for an educational environment that meets their child’s unique needs.”
