A Community Event for Arizona Families

Sierra Schools of Arizona recently hosted its first annual Family Resource Fair, welcoming families and community members for a morning of connection, resources, and fun.

Activities and Vendor Booths for All Ages

The free, family-friendly event offered opportunities for families in the autism community and for new residents in the area. Guests connected with local and statewide vendors, explored activities, and enjoyed treats, including a bounce house, fresh popcorn, and beverages. Attendees also participated in a resource booth punch card activity with a chance to win raffle prizes.

University of Arizona Engagement and Transition Programs

Representatives from the University of Arizona joined the fair to share information about their transition and work-study programs, which excited families and students alike.

Inclusive Sports Through Mikey’s League

Another local organization in attendance was Mikey’s League, which brings children and young adults with physical or intellectual disabilities together with peer partners to compete in inclusive sports. The organization aims to create genuine team experiences through structured practices, intentional coaching, and teams designed so every participant’s talent can shine.

Strengthening Community Through Annual Events

Although the Family Resource Fair is held annually, Sierra Schools of Arizona hosts a variety of other family-oriented events throughout the year to continue fostering connection, inclusivity, and shared purpose.

“We love creating opportunities for families to connect with each other, with our staff, and with local organizations,” said Jessica Gilmore, director at Sierra School of Gateway. “Events like this help build community, spark engagement, and give our families access to resources that make a real difference in their daily lives.”
