“Read and Tell with Mrs. Mel” is a unique book club program started by Mrs. Mel and Mrs. Ashley to encourage students at High Road School of Harford County to find a love for reading. The book club immerses students in the magical world of reading, with staff reading aloud book series as students follow along. At the end of each book, the club hosts a “viewing party” complete with snacks and drinks, where they watch the movie associated with the book.

This year, the Book Club is reading the Harry Potter series. The program excites students about reading, regardless of their literacy level, and has helped regular participants improve their reading skills, boost their academic confidence, and develop a love for reading activities.
