High Road School of the Quad Cities Student Art Show

The High Road School of the Quad Cities recently welcomed families and friends to its inaugural Student Art Show.

Teacher Ashlee Diaz had the idea after seeing her students’ enthusiasm for sharing their art, and it quickly expanded into a schoolwide event as staff recognized the depth of talent across the building.

Student Art Show Highlights Creativity Across Grade Levels

The show featured poetry, drawings, crocheted pieces, and other handmade crafts by students in kindergarten through high school. About 70 students participated, displaying approximately 55 pieces. Three classrooms created classwide projects, while others submitted individual designs.

Students had about a month to complete their pieces and could work at home or during the school day. Organizers kept guidelines open to encourage creativity and said the event exceeded expectations.

“The impact was for the students to feel seen and to build them up and for them to be able to express themselves,” Diaz said. “It surpassed all the hopes of impact we hoped it had.”

Building Confidence and Community

Families filled the room, praising the students’ creativity and calling for the show to return next year. A highlight of the afternoon was seeing the students stand beside their artwork, explaining their process and answering questions. Staff members said they were impressed by the students’ confidence and poise.

Director Kristin Fox applauded the effort behind the event.

“This was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the creativity and academic growth of our students through the arts,” Fox said. “We are proud of the hard work our students put into their pieces and grateful to Ms. Ashlee for bringing this vision to life.”

After a strong turnout and positive feedback, the school plans to make the Student Art Show an annual event and expand it in the years ahead.

We can’t wait to see what they create next!
