A Community Recognition for The Graham Academy

Carol McGrane, regional director for The Graham Academy, recently attended the Challenger Baseball Banquet, expecting a routine community event. Instead, she and the school team were recognized for their outstanding commitment to community service and advocacy for children with special needs.

This recognition reflected not only McGrane’s leadership but also the collective dedication of The Graham Academy team.

“It was especially moving to see how deeply valued this partnership is within the community and to witness the direct, positive impact it has on our children and families,” said McGrane. “This moment serves as a powerful example of SESI’s mission in action – supporting students, uplifting families, and strengthening communities through meaningful engagement and advocacy.”

Challenger Baseball Support and Community Impact

During the event, The Graham Academy was acknowledged for its ongoing support of Challenger Baseball. This division of the Little League provides children with physical and intellectual disabilities the opportunity to play baseball in an inclusive, supportive environment. The Academy’s involvement includes participation in autism awareness initiatives like Light It Up Blue, as well as fundraising efforts. These efforts have resulted in the donations of thousands of dollars to support the program.

Creating Inclusive Opportunities for Students

Through the partnership, students have had the opportunity to participate in the Wyoming Valley Challengers baseball team, with some playing games on the same fields used for the Little League World Series.
