PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 29, 2026 – Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI), a division of FullBloom, a premier provider of education services for K-12 students who require additional educational and positive behavioral supports to overcome challenges that impede success in a traditional school setting, today announced the hiring of Dr. Susanne H. Thompson as vice president of business development. She will lead SESI’s growth strategy, revenue generation initiatives, and partnership development.
Thompson brings over 30 years of leadership experience driving innovation, strategic growth, and operational excellence in K-12 and higher education organizations. Prior to joining SESI, she held leadership and executive-level positions at Discovery Inc., Discovery Education, the Northwestern Lehigh School District, the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit, and the Colibri Group with Moreland University. A recognized thought leader in education, Thompson has partnered with school districts nationwide to advance academic outcomes, empowering all students to shine. She regularly presents and engages with district leaders at ERDI, AASA and various state superintendent councils. Thompson will report to Dawn Thomas, president of SESI.
“Susanne’s passion for building collaborative relationships and her proven record of driving strategic growth will be instrumental as we work to ensure even more children in need have access to the specialized support and educational services they deserve,” said Thomas. “We are thrilled to welcome her to the SESI family.”
Thompson began her career serving the state of Pennsylvania as a classroom teacher before eventually working her way up to superintendent of schools.
“I’ve seen firsthand the transformative impact a supportive educational environment can have on children’s lives,” said Thompson. “Joining SESI allows me to continue pursuing my passion for helping students and families, while collaborating with dedicated educators and district partners who share that same passion. I look forward to building partnerships that expand access to our services and continue to inspire students to reach their fullest potential.”
Thompson received a B.A. from Muhlenberg College, where she studied humanities and education. She then earned a Master’s in elementary education from Kutztown University, and later a Doctor of Education in educational leadership, curriculum, and instruction from the University of Phoenix.
