Sierra School of San Joaquin is where students with academic, emotional, and behavioral needs uncover their potential through individualized learning that goes beyond what most classrooms can offer. In our private day schools, we meet each student where they are.

Smaller class sizes and high-quality, student-centered instruction allow our teachers, therapists, and staff to build strong connections with each student in nurturing, respectful, structured, and positive learning environments. Drawing from a comprehensive range of specialized services, Sierra School educators implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to help each student shine—at school, at home, and in the community.

Our students benefit from SESI’s Integrated Multi-Tiered Systems of Support that:

    • Individually support each student’s academic, behavioral, and emotional needs
    • Prevent barriers to learning in our classroom environments
    • Connect our team with students, staff, families and district partners to ensure the growth of essential skills outside of the classroom setting

Through evidence-based, data-driven instruction that is aligned with your student’s strengths and IEP goals, we meet your student where they are. In other words, we do not tier your student, we tier our supports to uniquely meet your student’s needs.

Strong relationships with our students, families, and school district partners are our highest priority. Together, we shine a bright light on the possibility and untapped potential of every Sierra School student.

Related services offered at this school include counseling services, transition and life skills program, sensory rooms and motor lab programs tailored to student needs.

  • Aunyia is an experienced education leader who brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to Sierra School of San Joaquin. Born and raised in Maryland, Aunyia served as a dean of students for several years in Maryland and Atlanta schools. She works closely with academic teams, support personnel, parents, the community, and most importantly, her students to ensure a safe and creative learning environment.

With a proven track record as a transformative leader, Aunyia has had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of students from various backgrounds and at all academic levels. She is dedicated to leading with equity and helps students and staff members achieve their goals and realize their full potential. Her driving force is always to serve and support each student at all times.

  • Timothy is a native of Stockton, Ca born and raised. He had the opportunity to live in Washington State for a bit during his childhood. He comes from a musically inclined family with a history of careers in music and teaching, and always had an impeccable ear for mimicking things he heard vocally and on instruments. His parents noticed this musical capability, and started Timothy out with drum lessons. This turned into a lifelong passion.

In 2004, Timothy began working with kids at his local neighborhood after school program, and has since then branched out to also working with young adults and various youth organizations around the city and county.

Timothy’s love for music has allowed him the opportunity to travel the country singing, but also connect with multiple generations. It also motivated him to go back to school, and graduate with his bachelor’s degree in music in 2022. His passion for working with youth and young adults allows him to pour back into students in & out of a school setting, and help mentor them, showing them that “anything is possible, if you put your mind to it, and apply yourself.”
